Fruit Scent Obsessed

Tuesday, November 03, 2015

It has been brought to my attention recently that I am obsessed with fruit scents, particularly berries. There's something about the smell of fruit that makes me think of summer and freshness, and when these scents are combined with a beauty product I'm basically in heaven. Today I thought I'd share with you my favourite fruit scented beauty products with you.

Strawberry Body Butter - The Body Shop
For my birthday I got given a small sample of this body butter in a little gift bag (that also came with a matching hand cream but I seem to have misplaced it in my flat move *sob*). Instantly in the moment I opened that little jar I was in love. Strawberry is my ultimate favourite berry, my favourite fruit and in my top five favourite scents. I am not a big user of body butters, I tend to just use body moisturisers, but this has me hooked. As we're coming out of winter in New Zealand, my legs are very dry and this is the perfect remedy for dry skin, it makes my legs silky smooth all day long. The only downfall I have found is that it's very difficult to get off of my hands afterwards. Overall I would give it a 9/10.

Like the body butter mentioned above, as soon as I opened this and smelled it I had fallen in love. Vanilla is one of the other top five scents, and mixed with raspberry this body wash smells like a milkshake. I may or may not have jumped up and down and thrusted this bottle (is it a bottle? a tube?) in my boyfriend's face when I found it at the supermarket and make his smell it, his responce was "don't you already have a shower gel" which I politely ignored. The onyl downfall is that I have gone through this very quickly, which I blame for it's almost water-like consistency as it just falls through my lufa. Not sure if I'll buy this again,  although I do actually have my eye on the mint version. Overall I'll give it a 7/10.

Not sure if I've mentioned this on my blog before, but for some reason I found a second pot of this in the move to my boyfriend's flat, so I have been using this facemask so often it's almost ridiculous. But, what isn't ridiculous is how good this product is. On the Lush website it is suggested to use this on sensitive skin, and although my skin isn't that bad it is really great for me; it's reducing my oiliness and my skin feels so soft afterwards that I have to resist stroking my cheeks. When I go to apply it I give the top of the pot a little rub around and activate all the bits of blueberry so the mask turns blue which I find oddly satisfying. Overall I'll give it a 8/10, simply because Love Lettuce is my all time fave.

Blousey Banana Shampoo - Lush
To give a bit of variety in my little collection, this product isn't berry scented but is still fruit so I thought I'd include it anyway. If any of you know me (well) you'll know I hate bananas passionately - something about when my brother was a toddler and not learning how to close his mouth when he ate banana and seeing that texture has haunted me since. Funnily enough, it doesn't actually smell like banana all that match so it's got my pass. I got recommended this product by a few of the Lush girls because this was supposedly the holy grail for brittle/dyed hair. And boy were they right! Since I have started using this shampoo every day my hair has gotten so much healthier and I swear it's making my hair grow faster. It's a weird, thick paste-y type substance so I don't end up using all that much when I use it, but boy oh boy it's wonderful. Overall I'd give this a 9/10, because selfishly I'd like to see Lush come up with another scent.

~

Hope you enjoyed my little fruit-y favourites collection, I'm not sure if I have developed a problem with my love for fruit scented products or whether it's simply a good thing. Either way I'm just going with it. What I'd like to know is if any of you have a similar love or go-to quality in beauty products?

  1. I'm all about the scents! I am really in to coconut scented everything at the moment, clearly a sign that I need a wee tropical holiday. I've never heard of the Blousey Banana Shampoo, I'll have to give it a go though because my hair needs some serious TLC.

    1. I had never heard of Blousey until it was recommended to me, it's hidden away amongst the hair care things which honestly I had never looked into at Lush before oops!

If you like fruity scents, you'll probably really enjoy the Peeing Santa bubble bar at Lush, It's strawberry scented and looks like one of those cream cheese strawberry santa things <3 xx
