Get Ready With Me: Ball Edition

Hair: The shampoo I've been loving lately is the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo. I bought this just after I got my hair coloured last week because my hair had to be stripped of it's natural colour and is really brittle and not it's normal softness that I am so very used to. I have been alternating between this and my Tresemme Colour shampoo so that I keep the colour in my hair but also retain it's moisture and softness.

Body: I've been using the Lush Rub Rub Rub body scrub about twice a week on my legs and back, the driest and roughest parts of my body and it does absolute wonders. This scrub is pretty tough as it's got sea salt bits in it, so I have to be careful not to overuse it and take all my skin off!

Face: I have been trying to use the Angels On Bare Skin face cleanser more often, as since I got it a month ago at my Lush birthday party, I have had trouble with how I find the smell. Honestly, it's not getting any better, but I have noticed it's been making my face softer.

Post shower

Face: My staple winter face moisturiser is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin. This is perfect for preperation before applying make-up and for having naked skin. It doesn't make my skin oily and also doesn't dry me out.

Body: The Dream Cream hand and body lotion I use only on a rare occasion where I feel like my legs are really dry, or if I want my legs to stay silky smooth all day, which is perfect for a ball night!

Hair: The Schwarzkopf Leave-In Hair Treatment has been my saviour lately, since I stopped using conditioner in the shower and especially since my hair has been stripped. All I have to do is squeeze a ball of it onto my hand, then rub my hands together and messily scrunch it into my hair whilst it's still wet then just leave it to air dry!

Nails: For my nails I use a layer of Essie Grow Stronger base coat, two layers of  Revlon Parfumerie Lavender Soap colour, then one layer of Revlon Colourstay Gel-Shine top coat. The last two are recent purchases (yesterday, to be exact!) but the base coat I have owned for a couple of months and it is absolutely perfect, keeps my nails strong and doesn't chip or break off! I have used other Revlon Parfumerie nail varnishes before and they have very strong pigmented colour, almost enough for just one coat and they have this adorable scent in them that comes out once your nails are dry.

Face: I use the Rimmel Stay Matte Mousse foundation (in 100 Ivory) applied with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, this is done first so I can spend a lot of time blending it into my hairline and my neck. I then use my Rubi Cheeks blush (in Rose) with the Real Techniques Contour Brush in a stippling effect on my cheeks. I find this blush to be very pigmented and can accidentally apply too much, so I go back with my Buffing Brush and blend the blush out into my cheeks.

Eyes: I do my eyes in a weird order because I'm still not used to using gel eyeliner and always seem to muck it up, so I start with applying Rimmel Gel Eyeliner (in Black 001) with the Real Techniques Detailer Brush. I then move onto my brows after each eye is done because I have found that my eyes start to water when I put eyeliner on, so I use Topshop's Brows pencil (in brown) and fill in the end of my eyebrows closest to my nose as I find that they're not very dark there.

After my eyeliner has dried, which I found out the hard way it takes a whee while, I get out the Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadow (in 55-Immortal Charcoal) and apply with the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush, blending the eyeliner out to my eyelids. I then use a clean(ish) Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush to blend the eyeshadow out to my crease, making sure I don't look too crazy! After all of this I apply two layers of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara to the top set of eyelashes and one layer to my bottom set.

Lips: for my lips I'm using one of my favourite every day lipsticks Strawberry Smash by Avon, which I got from my Mum. I would have normally used a bright red or purple for an event like this, but I feel that as my hair is bright bright pink I should lay low on the bright lipsticks for a while!

Shoes: The shoes I'm wearing I got from Rubi Shoes a long time ago for my year 13 ball in 2012, and I use them for 'special events' and they're my staple shoes as they're easy to walk in and they're black with cute peep-toes.

Ball dress: My dress I am wearing I actually bought for my highschool graduation at the end of 2012, so I can't remember where it is actually from. I decided not to buy a new dress because I've only worn this for one night and it's a gorgeous dress that still fits me so why not!

Accessories: My dress has a lot of gold detail around the top so I have decided to go for a subtle amount of jewellery. I have a necklace that I got from Mum which she has owned for years, it has a cute little blue gem in it that I feel compliments my dress beautifully. I also have a set of daisy earrings that I got for my birthday that are absolutely adorable.

Perfume: My perfume for the night is Taylor Swift's Incredible Things. I bought this perfume about a year ago and it is absolutely amazing, my favourite out of my little collection I have.

I hope you enjoyed this little post, to have a little nosey at what beauty products I am loving at the moment. I was actually tempted to do this as a vlog instead of a blog post but I chickened out at the last minute haha. Anyway, here's a cute photo of the boyfriend and I from last night featuring an ugly wristband!

If you like this post let me know, I wasn't sure if it was "too much" or "just enough", or let me know any ways you'd like it done differently, also if you'd like to see me attempt vlogging every so often let me know, as I have mid-semester holidays coming up so I have a bit of spare time to give it a go.
